The Svaz embroidery is one of the oldest Armenian embroidery techniques. It was widespread in Vaspurakan, Cilicia, Cappadocia, Tayk and Constantinople (modern day Istanbul).

The pendant measurs 3cm x 3.5cm. The leather neckpiece is approximately 65cm in length.
Ayda Sandurian is an embroidery master from Aleppo, Syria who moved to Armenia in 2012. She learned the delicate art of embroidery and needlework from her grandmother who was born in Marash, but ended up in Syria as a refugee during the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
